All students at Challenger Elementary are introduced to computer coding during library. Most classrooms give the students the opportunity to visit Hour of Code, but we want the library to give a unique, hands on experience. Last year the PTA generously granted the library code-able mice bots, ozobots and spheros! This year K-3 students are using the mice bots to use mapping skills and learn more about the library. Fourth and fifth grade students are using ozobots to code u turns! You can watch the task here. Coding not only supports core academics such as math and literacy, but it promotes collaboration and problem solving skills- which 21st century learners need to be successful. You can read more about the importance of coding in elementary schools here.
